Here’s being a mom for ya…

I’ve been home for a week now with sick kids (and a sick hubby). Kid number 1 has a cold but wants to go outside and play because the weather is finally nice enough to do it. “Go ahead! Enjoy!” So kid number 1 goes out to play.
Kid number 2 comes along… on antibiotics, coughing up a storm, should be in the hospital but keeps on trucking. “I want to go outside too!” Sure, just don’t run, skip, jump, climb, kick, or do anything active that might make you cough till you puke. “Okay, but sit down if you start coughing,” I say.
Kid number 3 joins in but with the whining. She doesn’t feel well either. She’s got a cold, stuff running out of her nose and ears, a minor fever, and just sits on the couch watching Kungfu Panda (the mom-edited version). So we skip over the scary part, then go get some medicine for her to take so she can breathe again. Fight, fight, fight, she doesn’t want to take the meds. Finally we get it in her mouth and up comes the meds and some of lunch. Great. I’m calling the doc.
Call the doc, leave a message to see if she needs to go into the doc too, just like brother yesterday (kid #2). Get kid #3 settled on the couch with a drink and head for the bathroom… gotta go pee! Just finish and I'm trying to pull my pants up and the phone rings. Gotta get the phone cuz it’s probably the nurse. But I can only get to the corded phone to answer. Yup, it’s the nurse. Yup, they want to see kid #3 tomorrow morning. She starts asking questions… meanwhile, kid #1 comes in and urgently waves for my attention. Something’s wrong outside. Can’t do anything cuz I’m on the wrong phone and my pants are still at my knees (don't tell Nurse Shelley).
Finish up with the nurse, pull up and button my pants, run out to see what’s wrong. Kid number 2 is screaming bloody murder because he fell down. I get that all taken care of and head back into the house where kid #3 is whining again. She just wants mommy to sit with her.
All this in a matter of minutes.
DEAR LORD!!! Pray for all of the moms that you know.
